Why I built this

You're probably a lot like me.

Tired of out-of-the-box training apps

Every plan is generic. None of it fits how you actually train, and you end up working around the app.

Done with coaching that doesn't fit

Coaches who don't really care, or don't really know what they're doing, handing you the same plan as everyone else.

Waiting on someone else to build it

You know exactly what the app should do. Nobody is going to make it for you.

Curious how to actually use AI

You've tried the chat apps. But you know there's more, and you want to learn.

Then AI changed it

So I built my own.

AI let me build my own fitness agent. It reads my data, knows my training and tells me what to do each morning. I learned how to build it one step at a time, and that is exactly what I teach you in here.

How it works

01

Pick your idea

Your own app idea, a better version of an app you already use, or an AI agent for your own training.

02

Follow the videos

35 step-by-step videos take you from idea to a real app. Every step is a prompt you copy, paste and run.

03

Build with us

Live build calls every Tuesday and Thursday, two 1:1 calls with me, and a room of athletes building next to you.

04

Put it on your phone

In 4 weeks you have a real app on your own phone. Yours to use, share and keep improving.

Already built by members

Athletes shipping their own AI coaches.

All of this came out of the free 7-Day Challenge in the Athlete AI Community. Labs is the next step: a real app, on your phone.

An AI coach for a 200 km gravel race

Apple Health and WHOOP data, one-word skills, and hard rules he set himself, all pointed at Traka 200.

A 5:05 AM routine that runs itself

Added recovery and nutrition coaches, then automated Withings, Garmin, a recovery call, and a nutrition plan into one morning task.

The whole system, moved to the cloud

Finished all seven days, then rebuilt it on Vercel and Supabase with AI planning, daily check-ins, and weekly reviews.

Trends a chat app would miss

His coach pulls similar workouts from a year back and watches for real patterns in his training.

Fitness and fuel in one dashboard

Race readiness, her training plan, and fuel targets, built while coming back from hip surgery.

“Training-life-changing”

A thank-you to the whole community after building his Athlete OS from the free tutorial.

And the thank-yous keep coming.

Reps beat talent

You don't need to code. You need reps.

Same as a training block. Four weeks, a clear plan, one session at a time, and a finish line. Labs is the block.

What Labs is

You don't build it alone. You build it with us.

01 / BUILD

Learn to build it

Idea to a real app on your phone. Mobile or web. Every step is a prompt you run, in order.

02 / DATA

Plug in your own training

Strava, Apple Health, Health Connect, WHOOP. Your app runs on the data your watch already collects.

03 / ROOM

Build with other athletes

A room of athletes, coaches and fitness pros building their own apps. Trade feedback, test each other's builds, and see what's working.

04 / SHIP

Put it on your phone

You finish with a real app on your own phone. Use it in training, hand it to your friends, and keep making it better.

The path

Idea to on your phone.

The Challenge: four weeks, six phases, one app, plus a growth phase for after you ship. Here's exactly what's inside each one.

00

WEEK 1 · ORIENTATION

Know exactly what you're shipping.

KICKOFF VIDEO · START HERE

How it runs, the tools, and exactly what you ship.

WE'RE COVERING

  • How the four weeks run and where to get help
  • The accounts and tools you need, set up once
  • Mobile or web: picking your track
  • What your finished app looks like on day 28

YOU LEAVE WITH

Your accounts open and your track picked.

01

WEEK 1 · FOUNDATIONS

Get set up. Speak the language.

7 LESSONS · CONCEPTS FIRST

What an app actually is, your stack, and Claude Code set up. Ends with hello world on your own phone.

WE'RE COVERING

  • What an app actually is: web vs native, and which your idea needs
  • The vocabulary: APIs, frontend vs backend, repos, builds, deploys
  • Claude Code in VS Code, and the one prompt that scaffolds your project
  • Your CLAUDE.md, your vault, and the two skills you use every day
  • How to run and test it: Expo Go, dev builds, TestFlight

YOU LEAVE WITH

"Hello world" running on your own phone.

02

WEEK 1 · IDEA AND PRD

Cut it down. Prove it. Write it down.

6 LESSONS + TWO 1:1 REVIEWS WITH KEVIN

Cut your idea to one loop you can ship, validate it with real people, and write the plan the build runs from.

WE'RE COVERING

  • Deriving your MVP from the idea you already have
  • Validating it with five to ten unbiased people
  • Writing a PRD that Claude can actually build from
  • Naming, your domain, and the three availability checks
  • Privacy, terms, and what the app stores require

YOU LEAVE WITH

A signed-off MVP, real validation, and a build-ready PRD.

03

WEEK 2 · WIREFRAME AND DESIGN

Make it look like a real product.

5 LESSONS + GROUP DESIGN REVIEW

Every screen drawn before it's built, and a design system that makes it look like a real product.

WE'RE COVERING

  • Avoiding AI slop: Mobbin to find screens, Figma to lay them out
  • Picking your style: palette, fonts, and one distinctive thing
  • Your flow board: the eight flows every app needs, plus yours
  • Logo, app icon, and splash screen, one prompt each

YOU LEAVE WITH

Every flow wireframed and a locked design system.

04

WEEKS 2-3 · THE BUILD

Build the whole thing.

9 LESSONS · THE CORE

The core. Auth, data, your core loop, and real fitness data from Strava and the health stores.

WE'RE COVERING

  • Building with Claude: the method, debugging, and getting unstuck
  • Your database on Supabase, built straight from your PRD
  • App shell, sign in, onboarding, and your core features
  • Apple Health, Health Connect, and a cloud source like WHOOP
  • The full test pass on a real phone

YOU LEAVE WITH

A working MVP you can click all the way through.

05

WEEK 4 · SHIP IT

Get it into people's hands.

4 LESSONS · IPHONE, ANDROID AND WEB TRACKS

Your domain goes live, your app goes onto real phones, payments switch on, and you submit it.

WE'RE COVERING

  • Your domain and marketing site, live
  • Onto real phones: TestFlight on iPhone, Google Play testing on Android
  • Going live with payments, if you want to charge for it
  • Submitting to the App Store, or shipping the web build

YOU LEAVE WITH

Your app on real phones, and submitted to the App Store.

06

AFTER YOU SHIP · GROWTH

Put it out there.

BONUS PHASE · OPENS TWO WEEKS IN

For when you want other people using it. Get your app in front of other athletes.

WE'RE COVERING

  • What makes your app different from the one you already use
  • App store listing, landing page, and getting found
  • Getting it to your run club, your team, and your gym
  • Your first 100 users, if you want to take it further

YOU LEAVE WITH

A plan to get your first users.

Why people build

The app you keep wishing existed? You can build it now.

Nobody knows what your training needs better than you do. Most people show up for one of three reasons.

You have an idea

It's been in your notes app for a year. You know exactly what it should do. You just never had a way to make it.

You know you could do it better

You use the same training app every day and you can list what's wrong with it. Build the version that works the way you train.

You want to build for yourself

No big plan. You want tools for your own training, something to show your friends, and the skill to make the next one.

WHAT CHANGES ONCE YOU'VE BUILT ONE

  • You stop waiting for an app to add the feature. You add it.
  • You start seeing problems everywhere, and you know you can build the fix.
  • Your training runs on something you made, built around how you actually train.
  • You keep the skill. Building with AI is one you'll use for the rest of your life, long after this app.
  • You get excited again. The kind you had when you signed up for your first big race.

That feeling is the whole point of Labs.

Kevin Rudd running into the finish of an ultramarathon with trekking poles

Who's teaching this

Kevin Rudd.

D1 LACROSSE · ULTRARUNNER · FOUNDER, ATHLETE AI

I am a former Division 1 lacrosse athlete who found endurance sports after graduation and fell in love with them. Ultramarathons, Ironmans, multi-day treks. Pushing my body and my mind is the thing I keep coming back to. I love it.

As I dove into the endurance world I kept hitting the same problem: nothing was built or customized how I wanted. In college, everything around me was elite and my training was dialed in. In endurance sports, I couldn't find coaching that came close. Apps were too generic. Close friends in the space didn't have enough experience. The influencer coach cared more about going viral than training me. And the elite coach's attention was focused on their Olympic athletes.

So I stopped waiting on someone else. I learned to build with AI, failed for a couple long months, and eventually came out with my own AI coach. It reads my Garmin and Whoop data daily, writes my NYC Marathon plan, pushes every workout to my watch, and checks in with me on Telegram each morning. It knows me better than I know myself and it's transformed how I view the world.

I built it with Claude, one prompt at a time. Labs teaches you that exact process, applied to your app idea. Every lesson comes with the prompts I use, so you're not collecting AI tips. You're shipping. Doing it alongside other athletes just like you and me.

Built, not theorized

I don't teach what I haven't shipped.

An AI coach that texts me every morning

It reads my Garmin data, knows my plan and checks in on Telegram. Built with the same process Labs teaches.

A 12-week marathon block on my watch

My NYC Marathon plan, written by the system and pushed to my watch as structured workouts. All 101 sessions.

  • Anyone who uses a fitness app every day and knows exactly how they'd make it better
  • Athletes who want to build tools for their own training and show their friends
  • Coaches and health and wellness pros who want to learn to build their own
  • Complete beginners. No code background needed

This is not for you if

  • Anyone who isn't looking to get better
  • Anyone who wants someone else to build it for them
  • Anyone who doesn't want to learn Claude Code
  • Anyone who isn't ready to invest in themselves

Questions

FAQs

Do I need to know how to code?+

No. Every step is a prompt you run with Claude, in order. If you can follow a training plan, you can follow this.

Do I need an app idea already?+

Bring one, and rough is fine. "The app I already use, but better" counts. So does a tool for your own training. Phase 2 cuts it down to something you can actually ship.

Do I have to sell it or start a business?+

No. Build it for yourself, your training partners or your team. The payments and launch lessons are there if you ever want them.

Phone app or web app?+

Either. You pick your track at the start. The mobile track takes an iPhone app to App Store submission and an Android app to Google Play's testing track. The web track skips the app store fees.

What does it cost beyond the seat?+

About $175 to get started if you build for iPhone, about $100 for Android, and about $75 for a web app. That is Claude Pro at $20 a month (Claude Code comes with it), Mobbin Pro for the design phase at about $45 a quarter, a domain at about $10 a year, and one store account: Apple Developer at $99 a year or Google Play at $25 one time. You only pay for the phone you are building for, and a web app needs neither. Mobbin and the domain are recommended, not required: you can screenshot apps on your own phone for free, and the free address your host gives you works. Everything else runs on free tiers while you build. One to know about: once your app starts charging, Vercel (where your site is hosted) asks you to move to its $20 a month plan.

What if it's not for me?+

You're covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee. Join, get into the first lessons, and if Labs isn't what you expected, email us within 7 days of joining for a full refund. No hoops.

How long does it take?+

It's self-paced with lifetime access. The core path from idea to a finished app is built around 4 weeks.
